Journeys to Bhutan

For centuries Bhutan – The land of the Thunder Dragon remained closed kingdom to the outside world with no access to foreign travellers. A few years ago though, the country decided to allow a limited number of visas and permits to be issued each year to let the travellers from the West visit this Hidden gem. Travelling here can be a bit expensive but is worth every penny for the lovers of Himalaya and the traditions. Most of the Bhutan is still kept well as if time hasn’t changed here. With the tourism growing in recent year the technology and infrastructure has gone up as well leading to higher standards of living. Though it can be argued that people in Bhutan aren’t graded by such indices as they term “Happiness” to be the best indicator to their well-worthiness.

Travelling to Bhutan is becoming easier depending upon the trips involved. There are options to fly in Paro which has the major International airport and connects to cities like Delhi, Kathmandu, Bangkok and Singapore. For trip involving India and Bhutan Trekking one can drive into Bhutan from either Phuntsholing or Samrup Dzonkhar.

The scenery and the change in culture was amazing, The assistant guide was a great help.
